Part 1 - Introduction
The key to understanding the Christian faith is the Lord Jesus Christ. And Jesus is introduced to us in the Bible. In fact JESUS is the focal point of the whole of the Scriptures. Look what Jesus said about Himself in the Bible:
- John 5: 39-40 "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life".
All these studies are based upon the Bible because we believe the Bible has a unique authority. Look at the claims the Bible makes:
- Read 2 Timothy 3: 14-17 and 2 Peter 1: 19-21
[They are Holy Scriptures, God-breathed - the Word of God - to make you wise for salvation.]
As you read the Bible, ask God to speak to you because it is His Word. Approach it prayerfully and with an open heart to God's message - and you will discover those claims to be true.
Introducing Jesus Christ
Look what people observed about Jesus:
- He was a Man of great power: Mark 2: 12, Luke 8: 25 and Acts 2: 22
- He was a great teacher: Matthew 7: 28-29 and John 6: 67-68
- He lived a perfect life: John 8: 46. Jesus challenged His enemies, "Can any of you prove Me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe Me?"
- See also Hebrews 4: 14-15 and 1 Peter 2:22
But was Jesus more than a man of power, a great teacher and a good man? How would you describe Jesus? .....
